March 23

“The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe.” Proverbs 18:10  Principals Corner
On August 24, 1814 British troops surrounded Washington, D.C., for an invasion.  President James Madison’s aides tried to hurry Dolly, his wife, to safety.  “Begging your pardon, ma’am, we have to leave now, before the Redcoats block our only escape from the city.”The first lady shook her head and stomped her foot.  “I’m not leaving without President Washington’s portrait!”"Take the painting!” the officer in charge demanded of his men as he escorted Mrs. Madison from the president’s house.  President and Mrs. Madison, along with the other government officials, fled the city just ahead of the British, who proceeded to burn the Capital, the president’s house, and most of the other government buildings. The American Army retook the city from the British two days later. (The painting Mrs. Madison saved is now on the dollar bill.)When Satan, our enemy, attacks, we can always run to Jesus.  God and His mighty army of angels can and will keep us safe.It was good to see all the students returning from spring break on Monday and to know that God kept everyone safe as some traveled to other parts of the country.  We are now in the last quarter of the school year.   It is very important that we all work together to make this the best quarter.  There is a lot of work to be done and sometimes it is hard to make sure that the children get the sleep that is needed.  I would ask each of you to make plans to have your child get at least 8 hours of sleep each night and send them to school with a good breakfast.Thank you for all your support and prayers as we continue to work together for the good of our children.
