March 9
“You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for You created all things, and by Your will they were created and have their being.” Revelation 4:11
Principals Corner
Have you ever wondered if penguins have knees? Why do fish float upside down when they die? Why are the oceans salty? Why do we have ear lobes? Silly questions, perhaps, but except for the last one, there are reasonable answers.
First, penguins, as do other birds, have knees; they just have very short legs. Two, when a dead fish begins to decompose, gases build up in the fish’s stomach and bladder, which makes them go
”belly up”.
Oceans are salty for several reasons. The greatest amount of salt comes from rivers, which take the salt out of rocks and carry it to the sea. Add a volcano or two and fresh basalt flowing up from a giant rift that runs through all the oceans’ basins and you get salty oceans.
As to why we have ear lobes? That’s a question you’ll have to save for Jesus, because as far as scientists know, ear lobes don’t appear to have any bodily function at all.
Solomon, the wisest man who ever lived, spent time watching the ways of ants, of all things. Imagine a king or president taking time out of his busy day to study bugs. Incredible, pondering the imponderable.
Ponder this: The more we learn about God’s creation, the more we know about Him. The more we know about Him, the more we love Him.
